TRENDY CHRISTMAS OUTFITS
Christmas brunch is the brunch of the year – a family gathering everyone remembers; hence you need an equally memorizing outfit to match. A burgundy outfit will do the trick for Christmas 2024.
1 BURGUNDY SILK BLOUSE WITH TAILORED SHORTS AND MID HEEL PATENT LEATHER MARY JANES
Whether a Christmas brunch at home, at Annabel’s, or at your grandmother, Christmas brunches demand a look that makes you look stunning.
However casual or formal Christmas brunch turns out to be, you will never make a misstep with a silk blouse and shorts paired with patent leather mid heel Mary Jeans.
SHOES: mid heel patent leather Mary Jane pumps - shop for similar here. Mine should have been more comfortable for the price I paid. Pov, I did make 10 km wearing them in Munich in October, but I don't think they will survive more than 5 more seasons. Whereas these Mary Janes will last you forever.
TOP: red silk blouse - mini is sold out in red - but this one is similar.
SHORTS: Sandro Paris pleated shorts - buy here. Ps. Take your normal size. I had to have mine taken in - severely. Before taking them to my seamstress, I could get both my legs in one hole. Pov, I might exaggerate a little bit, but they were so large they didn't stay on me. And they only have a zipper in the back, so you can't help with a belt. But again, they should fit you perfectly. I have 74 cm around the widest part of my hips and size FR34 is simply too large for me.
TIGHTS: Falke opaque black tights - buy here.
*When putting together this Christmas brunch outfit, I wanted to play with textures and rich seasonal colors. The burgundy silk blouse is the main piece, bringing that festive touch without being overtly Christmas-themed. I chose crepe silk specifically for its subtle matte finish and elegant drape, which keeps the look refined rather than flashy – perfect for a daytime celebration. *If it were a night time event, I might have chosen a satin silk blouse. But for the day, a crepe silk is the option that sizes for the occasion. The navy blue tailored shorts might seem unexpected for winter, but paired with semi-sheer black tights, they create a sleek, leggy silhouette while staying seasonally appropriate. Also, they are very fashionable for winter 2024/25. The turn-up detail on the shorts adds a tailored polish that elevates the entire look. To anchor the outfit, patent leather Mary Jane pumps bring a classic touch while their mid heel ensures comfort through multiple eggnogs, and champagne. What makes this combination work is how each piece plays a distinct role: the blouse brings color and sophistication, the shorts offer structure, the tights add wintertime practicality, and the shoes complete the look with their glossy finish that complements the silk. The overall effect is festive yet polished, giving that perfect balance between holiday spirit and brunch-appropriate elegance.
2 SHORT SEQUIN DRESS WITH CHERRY LIQUOR KITTEN HEELS AND A HEADBAND
Take the more is more approach when the invitation calls for extra glamour and bring a joyful spirit to family gatherings in sparkling dresses that catch the morning light.
My new sequined dress marries a trendy silhouette with ultra feminine details. I'm obsessed with the bows!
No, wait! This brunch outfit is so exceptional that it calls for a plot. Imagine waking up to the gentle sound of snow hitting your window. The early morning darkness is still lingering over Manhattan. But your apartment feels different on Christmas morning. The warmth of twinkling lights from your Christmas tree reflects off the pink and silver ornaments, throwing dancing shadows on the walls.
Your apartment still smells of all the cookies you baked before you went to bed.
You stretch and slowly get out of the bed. You hit the bathroom and lit Jo Malone Christmas-scented candle on the marble counter before washing your teeth and stepping under the shower. You make it even longer than usual, and the steam rises as you breathe in notes of pine and spiced orange. You take your time, letting the hot water wake you fully.
You go back to your bedroom to do your makeup before entering the dressing room. You already know what you will wear as you roll the burgundy tights up your legs and run your fingers across the hangers until you reach it – the white sequin dress that catches the light like fresh snow.
As you slip it on, each sequin seems to whisper magic. The long sleeves hug your arms, and the short hem makes you feel playful and sophisticated at once. The pearl bows add that touch of whimsy that Christmas practically demands.
You match the tights with the shoes and headband.
Then your phone buzzes – the Uber has arrived. You grab your coat and hurry out. You see the sequins of your dress catching the morning light as you pass buy the mirror in the lobby.
You slide into the waiting car, giving a cheerful "Merry Christmas" to your driver. As the car pulls away from your building, your stomach drops – the cookies! The beautifully packed boxes of handmade treats are still sitting on your kitchen counter, next to your twinkling Christmas wreath. Your hand flies to the driver's seat: "I'm so sorry, but could we turn around? I forgot something incredibly important! Or perhaps stop at the hotel - they must sell cookies in the hotel cafeteria, right?" The driver smiles knowingly in the rearview mirror as he makes a U-turn.
SHOES: Gucci Signorina slingbacks - buy here USA or buy here EU + rest of the world.
DRESS: Self Portrait white sequin dress - buy here. I bought this dress a few weeks ago and I'm obsessed. And it runs slightly bigger than other Self-portrait dresses - for which I know you will love it even more. If you feel slightly restrainedin any of the signature Self Portrait dresses, this won't be the case when wearing this dress. All the other Self Portrait dresses fit me almost perfectly (only a little too big), but I have too much space around the chest and shoulders in this dress. For me it runs one size larger than it should. But again, I'm 83cm around the shoulders, 73cm with a padded pushup bra, and 52cm around the waist.
ACCESSORIES: OK, I won't gatekeep where I bought my headband even though I don't get a commission for your purchase at Boho headwear. But Špela, the designer, is my friend, so I’m happy to promote her business.
TIGHTS: Calzedonia burgundy 30DEN tights - buy here.
*This outfit captures pure Christmas magic by reimagining the classic winter white with modern glamour. The short white sequin dress is a stunning canvas that catches light with every movement – think freshly fallen snow with a fashion-forward twist. The long sleeves keep the look elegant and weather-appropriate, while the pearl bow details add that extra touch of romance that's perfect for holiday celebrations. Now, here's where the styling gets interesting: instead of playing it safe with black tights, I opted for fashionable burgundy tights. Burgundy tights transform the dress from simply festive to thoroughly sophisticated, while the matching patent leather slingbacks in cherry liquor burgundy bring a cohesive finish to the lower half. The pointy toe and kitten heel of the slingbacks maintain elegance without sacrificing comfort – essential for those long brunches. Completing the look with a burgundy headband isn't just about accessorizing; it's about framing the entire ensemble and bringing together all the colours, creating a thoughtful, intentional appearance. The result is undeniably festive outfit but still casual enough for a daytime event.
CLASSY OLD MONEY CHRISTMAS BRUNCH OUTFITS
You likely already realize that old money dress whatever. And there is no such thing as a standard old money attire. Yet, I know you are looking for classy Christmas brunch outfits that give old money.
3 LONG SLEEVE PLEATED DRESS WITH PUMPS
If you are searching for something more traditional, look to sophisticated silhouettes and longer lengths.
Turn heads in a long green pleated dress that embraces the old money Christmas spirit.
SHOES: knee high black boots - buy here.
DRESS: Self Portrait green pleated dress - I bought mine last year and is sold out. But this one is similar.
MAKEUP: Dior Cushion - buy here.
*There's something timelessly chic about this pairing that embodies Christmas elegance without being obvious. The dark green midi pleated dress works as a subtle nod to the season – it's festive without screaming "holiday outfit." The pleating adds movement and grace to every step, while the midi length strikes that perfect balance between formal and relaxed that brunch demands. The bow tie neck and long sleeves add a Victorian-inspired romance that feels especially fitting for Christmas morning. What makes this look particularly clever is how the black knee-high boots ground the feminine elements of the dress. They create a sleek line that complements the pleats rather than competing with them, and their height perfectly bridges the gap between the midi length and whatever winter weather December brings. This is the kind of outfit that looks effortlessly put together but still special enough for Christmas celebrations – the type of ensemble that lets you gracefully transition from unwrapping presents to sipping champagne at brunch.
CAPSULE CHRISTMAS BRUNCH OUTFITS WITH A DRESS
If you are rushed for time, you might want to turn to the classics. The urge to wear red and green for Christmas is undeniable.
Take your pick from red velvet, or perhaps you would prefer a full red dress that puts a unique twist on festive traditions when paired with patent leather kitten heel slingbacks.
4 RED MIDI DRESS WITH SATIN HAIR BOW AND KITTEN HEEL PUMPS
We all know a red dress works the best for a heartwarming Christmas brunch at home.
As a symbol of Christmas and classic femininity, a midi red dress will always be the best dress to wear for Christmas brunch.
It can take you from home to church and after to Christmas brunch party at Annabel’s or Claridge’s, or to brunch at Ritz.
But let's assume you are having a formal Christmas brunch at home.
Ps. If you take charge of setting the table for this special Christmas brunch, here are a few tips to follow.
1) Begin with a clean, well-pressed tablecloth that cascades gracefully over the table’s edges. 2) Start by placing the fine china at each setting. Position the plates at the center, creating a symmetrical layout across the table. Make sure you don’tforget about the bread plate. You should place it 10 o’clock from the main plate.
3) Align the silverware accordingly—forks to the left, knives and spoons to the right, with the addition of a butter knife on the bread plate.
4) Moving on to crystal glassware, arrange them with precision, capturing the play of light.
5) Now, bring in the tea cup and saucer, placing it to the right of the setting. Next to the spoon. Coordinate the tea cupdesign with the rest of the table setting for a cohesive look.
6) Delicately fold napkins and place them on the main course plate, adding a final touch of refinement.
SHOES: Gucci Signorina slingbacks - buy here USA or buy here EU + rest of the world.
DRESS: red Self Portrait dress - I bought my dress some time ago, and it is sold out. But there is this similar dress you can buy instead. To be honest, I prefer this dress over mine. I really dislike the sleeves on my dress. And the bodice on this dress is spectacular.
ACCESSORIES: Boho headwear hair bow - buy here.
*The midi red dress with its full skirt taps into a universally flattering silhouette that evokes both vintage charm and modern elegance.
The short sleeves keep the look appropriate for indoor celebrations while maintaining a polished appearance. But if the dress comes without sleeves, it's ok - the dress is A-style.
The addition of the glitter belt introduces a touch of holiday sparkle while also defining the waist, creating a flattering silhouette that works well for various body types.
The burgundy patent leather slingback pumps with their kitten heel are a thoughtful choice – they echo the dress's red tones in a deeper shade, creating depth without matching exactly. The modest heel height is timely. Remember it’s flats for breakfast, kitten heels for brunch, mid heel for lunch and high heel for dinner.
To complete the look, the brown hair bow adds a soft, feminine touch that balances the dress's structured silhouette and complements both the warm tones of the outfit and the season's festive atmosphere.
5 CHRISTMAS BRUNCH DRESS WITH SATIN HAIR BOW AND KITTEN HEELS
Now imagine air filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods, soft holiday melodies playing in the background.
You are wearing a green midi dress. Yes, another midi in green, but with short sleeves this time. With all those candles, and fireplaces (or geothermal heating turned on and set on high temperature) it's so hot in every corner of our home.
SHOES: Gucci Signorina slingbacks - buy here USA or buy here EU + rest of the world.
DRESS: midi green dress - mine is Self Portrait and I bought it a while ago. And yes, that means that is sold out already. But I found this dress that looks similar. Pov, I wish the price was similar, too. The dress I found is only as much as my favourite panettone - under $100.
ACCESSORIES: Boho headwear hair bow - buy here.
*When thinking about Christmas, we all bring green and red colours. But when wearing them togheter you can easily make it feel too obvious or costume-like. To avoid the costum-like look, choose grown-up shades.
The midi dark green dress with short sleeves is a refined foundation – its length brings sophistication while the short sleeves create a fresh, less expected winter silhouette.
Pair it with cherry liqueur burgundy accents. The patent leather slingbacks will add depth to the green dress. The pointy toe and kitten heel bring a feminine refinement that's perfect for brunch, while the patent finish adds that touch of polish that makes the outfit feel special enough for Christmas.
The burgundy hair bow matches with the shoes, framing the entire look and making it appear intentionally curated rather than randomly assembled.

As Christmas brings cosy feelings, you want to wear materials to match. With charming silhouettes and warmth, here are pretty and sweet casual Christmas brunch outfits that will make you look cute and stylish.
6 RED CARDIGAN WITH DARK WASH JEANS AND KITTEN HEELS
For something cute yet chic in the same measure, try my favourite Christmas brunch outfit with jeans.
Whether it is casual at home or dressed up for outside, this chic Christmas brunch outfit will never be out of place. It is all; it is red, cute, chic, cool, stylish, fashionable and warm.
POV A red cardigan has a vintage charm that lasts throughout the holidays paired with trendy jeans.
There is something timeless about wearing a red cardigan on a Christmas morning, and something practical about layering over a T-shirt and matching it dark wash jeans. POV You need to save this Christmas brunch look if you want to eat a lot and look super cute all Christmas day long.
Anyway, back to you. I can already see you in this casual Christmas brunch outfit opening that panettone. You are curious and excited, as you pull the ribbon and tear the paper. You remove the paper, and gasp in delight. It’s a classic panettone, filled with candied fruits and nuts. You love panettone, and can't wait to try this one. Although it's rather small. And after sharing it with the entire table, you won't get more than a tinny slice. But wait, there is a note sticked to the ribbon. Could this be a gift just for one of you? You did find it at the front door last night. So the note - read the note. It says:
“Dear You, Merry Christmas! I hope you like this panettone, which I baked myself. You make me happy, and I want to make you happy too. I hope you will accept this gift, and this confession. I have a crush on you, and I would love to go out with you. If you feel the same way, please meet me outside after the brunch. I will be waiting for you, with a mistletoe. Love, Your Secret Santa.” You gasp, it's for you.
SHOES: Gucci Signorina slingbacks - buy here USA or buy here EU + rest of the world.
CARDIGAN: red Sézane cardigan sweater - buy here. *You can wear it 3 ways. The stitches are positioned in way that allows you to turn it around and wear it as a sweater, too.
TOP: black oversized T-shirt - OK, I won't gatekeep where I bought this T-shirt even though I don't get a commission for your purchase at Artotype+. But Adrian, the designer, is my friend, so I’m happy to promote his business. Designed in Paris and made of 100% cotton in Portugal, 230GSM, this T-shirt is a must have. And you will melt as soon as you see Adrian’s cute furry daughter in the back. Uva is the cutest.
JEANS: A.P.C. Paris wide-leg jeans - buy here. Yes, they are new. And no, they haven't been taken in yet. I bought them in my size, FR24, which is OK for me when shopping for A.P.C Paris standard and slim-fit jeans, but always too big for wide-leg and baggy jeans. Anyway, I'm obsessed with these jeans. I have them in navy blue, too. And the reason why I haven't taken them to my seamstress yet is because I wear them on repeat. They are so soft - they are not made of Japanese denim like most of A.P.C. Paris jeans.
ACCESSORIES: Boho headwear headband - order here.
*Layering can elevate everyday pieces into party-appropriate attire. Do the color blocking with the red cardigan and black T-shirt. Make the black a grounding element while the red brings the festive spirit. This layering technique creates visual interest while maintaining versatility, a key principle when styling more casual pieces for dressier occasions.
The 70s style wide-leg jeans are doing significant stylistic heavy lifting here. The retro silhouette transforms what could be a simple casual outfit into something more intentional and fashion-forward. The wide-leg cut brings a dramatic line that, when paired with pointy kitten heels, elongates the silhouette while keeping the overall look grounded in modern sophistication. Remember, when mixing casual pieces like denim with dressier elements, the cut and fit is crucial in elevating the entire look.
The burgundy red kitten heels and matching headband are not an exact match to the cardigan, but rather a sophisticated deeper shade that adds depth to the overall look. The slight variation in reds creates visual interest while maintaining cohesion, showing an understanding of color theory that registers as inherently sophisticated.
