WHAT TO WEAR IN FALL 2024 IF YOU DON’T KNOW THE LATEST FASHION TRENDS?

Don’t know the key fashion trends for fall 2024 yet? Or merely don’t have enough energy to keep up with the latest fashion trends and follow the new fashion trends blindly? It’s totally OK. You can dress great and look chic without knowing any fashion trend at all!

Truly! I actually said that! And what is more, I believe you don’t even need a well-curated fall capsule wardrobe to dress well.

Though I do believe that you need a nice blouse, or a classic white/blue shirt (if you are from the USA you need a flannel shirt as well - it's USA capsule exclusive - we don't wear flannels in EU if they are not a fashion trend of the season), a sweater cardigan, a navy blazer, a tweed skirt and a light jacket, one pair of slacks, tailored wide-leg pants, a camel sweater, a little black dress, straight dark jeans, black pumps, a trench coat, a denim jacket, low sneakers for your casual affairs, and boots for when it gets cold. And that is more or less everything you need.

CAPSULE FALL OUTFITS THAT ARE ALWAYS IN FASHION

Admittedly, when writing the list above, I didn't mention how important the cut of the clothes is. The cut changes - skinny jeans are the best example. One season they are in, then they are out - btw, they have been out for years and are slowly coming back in style.

For jeans in fall, the safest bet are always straight dark wash jeans. Pov, a slightly slimmer version - as presented below is a good choice for skinny girlies, too.

All in all, the fall outfit formula with jeans - skinny, baggy, wide-leg or straight - is timeless.

FALL CAPSULE OUTFITS FOR CASUAL WEAR

Again, flannels are trend related in Europe, and we trust in camel knits instead.

As chic as they come, uber soft knits in camel are picture perfect addition for every look. Pair with everything from denim (you will see me in modern skinny cut below) for weekend brunch to miniskirts for a cozy day at home. It's time to make a pumpkin spice latte, lit a candle, and grab a book.

1 CAMEL MOHAIR SWEATER WITH DARK WASH JEANS AND HEELED LOAFERS WITH A HAIR BOW BARRETTE

Imagine stepping out of your apartment, the soft camel mohair sweater hugging you like a blanket in crisp autumn air.

Your dark wash jeans (you will see modern skinny jeans in the collage below - my favourite jeans that I wear no matter the latest trends, but you might prefer to go for timeless straight dark wash jeans) look so chic paired with heeled loafers as you step on the sidewalk.

The breeze tousles your hair, and you reach up to adjust the delicate bow holding your locks in place.

As you round the corner, the little bookshop comes into view. It's a quaint building that is whimsy and Instagrammable. But what catches your eye is the display outside - weathered wooden tables (actually, I don't know how to name them - they are not really tables but not basic shelves either - I don't know, book stalls or something) under a grand old maple tree.

You approach, the fallen leaves crunching satisfyingly beneath your loafers. The scent of aged paper and leather bindings mingles with the earthy aroma of autumn. Your fingers, peeking out from the cozy sleeves of your sweater, trail along the spines of the books.

A particularly worn tome catches your eye. As you pick it up, the weight of it in your hands feels significant, as if it holds more than just words on pages. You flip it open, and the musty scent of old paper wafts up, transporting you to another time.

The shopkeeper, a kindly older gentleman with twinkling eyes, notices your interest. "Ah, that's a special one," he says, his voice as warm and rich as your sweater. "Found it tucked away in an old estate. Bit of a mystery, that book."

Intrigued, you decide this is the one. You pay for your newfound treasure, tuck it under your arm - that little black back you carry around everywhere you go is too little. Pov, at least mine is, you can pair this look with a slightly bigger bag - linked below.

SHOES: Gucci heeled loafers - buy here. They are the most comfortable shoes I own. They are more comfortable than all the sneakers and slippers I have. Slippers are too low and sneakers too squeezy, these loafers feel just right.

BOTTOM: A.P.C. Paris dark wash jeans - unlike the sweater, the jeans were part of the collection they keep restocking, and you can buy them here. They are presented on a male model, but don't get confused - they are unisex and they run small. I bought mine in size FR 24 and they fit me perfectly - that's your cue for sizing up. But again, you might prefer to shop for timeless straight dark wash jeans anyway.

2 CAMEL CABLE KNIT SWEATER WITH MINI BLACK SKIRT AND DESIGNER SLIPPERS WITH A HEADBAND

As you push open the door to your home, the scent of candles mingles with the crisp autumn air that follows you inside. You slip off your heeled loafers, the moment you enter your dressing room.

You take off the mohair sweater and jeans, folding them neatly before tucking them away - jeans in the denim drawer and sweater in the knit drawer above. Your hand hovers over the sweater section, finally stopping on your latest purchase. You pull out the Max Mara camel sweater, and put it on immediately.

Still standing in the middle of your dressing room, you reach for black mini flounce skirt. To finish the look, you pause at your dresser, selecting a khaki leather headband. As you slide it into place, you catch your reflection in the mirror - the headband adds a polished touch to your relaxed look.

Sunlight filters through the tall windows, casting a golden glow across the room. Dust motes dance in the beams, creating an almost magical atmosphere as you settle deeper into the sofa, and adjusting a velvet throw pillow behind your back.

The newly acquired book rests in your lap, but as you open it, the spine creaks softly, releasing a whiff of that intoxicating old book smell.

Your fingers trace the slightly foxed edges of the pages before you begin to read and losing yourself in the story. Time seems to slow, and the late afternoon sun slowly shifts, painting the room in ever-changing hues of amber and gold. But now you need coffee.

I was told that this is the designer's choice, but still, go a half of your size up.

The thing is that you can wear this knitwear in 3 different ways. As a sweater - like I'm wearing it here. But you can also turn it around and wear it as a cardigan sweater. Or a cardigan if you unbutton all the buttons. But you will want to have it close to your skin. Made of 70% wool and 30% cashmere, this knitwear is so soft and feels so good on your skin. Now if this is not girl math, I don't know how to calculate. *This knit is cropped, but don't size up. It's already oversized.

4 WIDE LEG PANTSUIT WITH POINTY FLATS WITH A HEADBAND

Imagine awakening to the crisp autumn air seeping through your slightly open bedroom window. You blink awake, your eyes adjusting to the soft amber light filtering through your curtains. You grab your iphone and see it's 6:30 AM (pov, perhaps better 3:30 AM, 6:30 AM is a bit late, I wake up earlier, but let's leave it like this, we want morning sunlight streaming through your bedroom window in this plot). As you push back the warm duvet, a shiver runs through you – the first real chill of autumn has crept in overnight. Your toes curl against the cool hardwood floor as you pad towards the window, drawing back the curtains to see golden leaves on the trees across the street. The maple outside your bedroom is ablaze with crimson and gold, its leaves dancing in the early morning breeze.

But you really don't have time to enjoy in a cosy morning today, you have a meeting, presentation and who knows what more in your agenda for today.

Now you rush to the bathroom to take the shower, brush your teeth and do your morning skincare routine. We will see you again in your dressing room.

Perfect for navigating the office hallways and perhaps a quick coffee run.

His eyes, crinkle slightly at the corners as he smiles at you.

"I thought that was you," he says, his voice a low, pleasant rumble that sends a shiver down your spine. "You look stunning."

You feel a blush creeping up your cheeks, thankful for the dim lighting. "Thank you," you reply, your voice softer than you intended. "It's been a while."

"I hope this isn't too forward," he murmurs, his breath warm against your ear, "but I was wondering if you might like to have dinner with me sometime?"

You surely know the first date outfit rule - wear a dress. And if you don't wear dresses, wear a dress anyway.

Surely, you won't be able to play on "I'm cold, wrap me in your coat" card when wearing this dress, as it comes with long sleeves, but you will look stunning. Besides, you can always use the bracelet trick.

Now, from one day to the travel in duo, might take one more season, but who knows, you might need to escape to heal your broken heart or just to reseat and meet with your girlies.
