But finding the ideal outfit for a wine tasting tour in summer can be exciting. Scroll down to see some of my recent inspiring summer winery outfits that are all smart and comfortable.Ps. Wine tasting is not the same as wine drinking. We only take one sip (at least I do) and not an entire glass. The goal is to taste the aroma, not drink alcohol.

Picture this: Sun-drenched vineyards stretching to the horizon, the gentle clink of glasses, and the rich aroma of oak barrels wafting through cool cellars.
Summer is the perfect season to visit vineyards and prominent wine cellars, and what better way to enhance your experience than with the perfect summer winery outfit?
Dressing for a wine tasting tour can be challenging. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway to a vineyard in Napa, Champagne or a spontaneous visit to your local winery, putting together the best summer winery outfit is required.
Pov, wineries do have a dress code – sometimes unwritten but you will never escape the looks if you show up to a winery underdressed or too coquette.
Btw, you can get the winery dress code guide if you are a paid subscriber, only.
As mentioned earlier, I’m sharing five summer wine tasting tour outfits for you in this article – I’m showing you four summer winery outfits I wore on wine tasting tour in June. My parents and I visit around 10 different wineries every summer. And one from our family’s vineyard. The last winery outfit is from the trip I went to recently with a group of architects. It was so fun. We started our trip in the city, walked around, went to the construction site, a few museums and many other interesting spots before ending our day at the winery. So yes, it was a proper tourist day - more about it later.
Of course, my goal is to list all the summer wine-tasting tour outfits I have ever worn in this article. But I have only started documenting my summer winery looks four years ago, so we only have four plus one looks documented so far. Anyway, more are to come!

FANCY SUMMER WINE TASTING OUTFIT FOR WINERY TOUR IN FRANCE
There is a certain joy that only a dress can spark. For a wine tasting in France, put on a short sleeve mini tweed dress and espadrilles.
1 BLACK SHORT TWEED DRESS WITH ESPADRILLE WEDGES
Step next to AC and imagine how the temperature drops noticeably as you enter the wine cellar. The air is thick with the earthy scent of oak and the faint, sweet aroma of fermenting grapes.
You pass by massive stainless steel tanks. Sadly, their surfaces won’t reflect your stunning new tweed dress, but rest assured, everyone around you will compliment you on your dress as you move deeper into the cellar.
The barrel room opens before you. It is filled with rows upon rows of oak barrels. Some of them are accessorised with a painting, some not yet.
The sommelier’s voice resonates in the space as they begin the tour, explaining the aging process and the impact of oak on different varietals.
As the tasting begins, you lift the first glass, a crisp Chardonnay. The sommelier instructs you to first observe the color – a pale gold that catches the light beautifully. You swirl gently, watching as the wine’s legs form and fall along the glass.
Bringing the glass to your nose, you inhale deeply. Notes of apple and peach dance with subtle hints of vanilla and pineapple. You might even taste melon and toast from the oak aging.
You take a small sip, letting it coat your palate. The wine is alive with flavors – bright fruit up front, followed by a creamy texture and a long, mineral finish.
Moving on to a bold red, you notice how the cellar’s dim lighting accentuates the deep ruby color in your glass. This time, the aroma is more intense – ripe berries, a touch of plum jam, and a whisper of chocolate. The taste is complex, layers of fruit and tannin unfolding as you savor that small sip.
SHOES: Castañer black espadrilles - buy here. They are the most comfortable and easy to walk in espadrille wedges. *Take your normal size.
DRESS: Maje tweed dress - I bought mine last year - obv it's sold out, but Sandro (Maje’s sister brand) presented an updated version of this dress recently. It's sleeveless. Buy the dress here.
MAKEUP: Gucci mascara - buy here. It’s the best mascara out there.
*I chose this black tweed dress as the foundation because it perfectly embodies that effortless French elegance that feels so natural in wine country settings. The sparkly texture catches light beautifully in dimly lit tasting rooms while the silhouette maintains sophistication without trying too hard.
What makes this outfit work is the balance of textures and tones. I paired it with the espadrilles because the natural, organic texture creates the perfect contrast against the refined tweed, preventing the look from feeling too formal or city-like.
The espadrilles also echoe the dress's gold button details, creating a cohesive look that feels intentional rather than accidental.
The overall effect is polished vineyard chic - elevated enough for upscale tastings but with those organic elements that show you know you are at the vineyard. The combination says "I belong here" rather than "I'm playing dress-up," which is exactly the confidence level you want on your wine tasting tour.
BOUJEE SUMMER WINERY OUTFITS FOR WINE CELLAR TOUR IN SUMMER
Stylish tweeds make for double the fun at wineries. Boujee with a belt, the summer tweed minis are one of our most-loved designs. From sparkling tweed (or bounclé) to ornate lace, explore all the variations of boujee summer fits.
2 SHORT SLEEVE MINI TWEED BUTTER YELLOW DRESS WITH ESPADRILLES
Before heading outside, pause to admire a unique feature of the winery – the collection of painted barrels. Pov, you will find art in every exceptional wine cellar. Look for oak barrels that have been transformed into a canvas, showcasing spirited works by renowned artists.
You might spot a barrel adorned with swirling, Van Gogh-inspired sunflowers, its bold yellows and blues striking contrast to the deep brown of the oak.
Another might catch your eye with a Modigliani-esque portrait, the elongated features seeming to observe the cellar with quiet dignity.
But as you make your way outside, the vista before you takes your breath away. Rolling hills covered in neat rows of vines stretch as far as the eye can see. The green leaves glowing in the early afternoon light. And the smell, Oh you can smell cherries.
Cherry trees punctuate the landscape, reaching towards the cloudless blue sky.
You find a quiet spot on the balcony with an ineffable view and lift your glass - red again.
SHOES: Castañer black espadrilles - buy here. They are the most comfortable and easy to walk in espadrille wedges. *Take your normal size.
DRESS: Self Portrait butter yellow tweed dress - sadly it is sold out. I bought it the moment I found out how fashionable butte yellow will be in 2025 (and yes, that means I bought it years ago). But luckily, I was able to find this dress that is super similar.
PERFUME: Chanel Paris Paris - buy here. It’s the perfume I wear the most. And it won’t overpower fragrances in wine.
*The butter yellow tweed dress is the starting point as it captures that perfect "golden hour" glow that's so magical in vineyard settings. The warm, buttery tone mirrors the late afternoon light filtering through grapevines. Also, it’s the color of the season.
On the other hand, the black espadrille wedges with rope detailing ground this trendy dress with something more substantial and earthy. The rope echoes the natural, agricultural environment of wineries while the black provides necessary contrast against all that luminous butter yellow, preventing the look from washing out or appearing too monochromatic.
For fragrance, I selected this particular Chanel scent because its soft, sophisticated profile won't compete with wine aromatics during tastings.
BOHO LUXURY SUMMER WINERY OUTFIT FOR SUMMER WINE TASTING IN ITALY
As you type in your upcoming wine tasting tour, ensure a summer dress with long sleeves and espadrilles are on your checklist, too. Espadrilles and a long sleeve summer dress are the quintessential fit for summer attire for the vineyard.
Wine cellars tend to stay cool year-round and you need a layer that won’t weigh you down as you step outside to enjoy the wine.
3 WHITE LONG SLEEVE SHORT DRESS WITH BLACK ESPADRILLES
As you savor the wine, your eyes roam over the vineyards. You spot workers tending to the vines in the distance.
SHOES: Castañer black espadrilles - buy here. I’m relating myself, but they are the most comfortable and easy to walk in espadrille wedges. *Take your normal size.
DRESS: Self Portrait short shirt dress - my dress is sold out. I bought it a while ago for wine tasting tour. Anyway, I found two dresses that are similar (not in the price though - mine was more expensive) - see here and here.
MAKEUP: Gucci mascara - buy here. It’s the best mascara out there.
*I chose this white lace shirtdress because it brings that effortless Italian countryside romance while the structured collar keeps it from feeling too precious or overly feminine. The delicate lace creates a beautiful contrast of textures.
But you need to pair it with black espadrilles, which provide essential visual weight and grounding. Without them, all that ethereal white lace would float away, but the black straps create definition and structure while the rope sole adds that crucial earthy element that connects to the vineyard setting.
This combination achieves something magical: it looks like you stepped out of a European romance film while being completely practical for wine country worldwide.
